Thank You
Thank you so much to our families who have been vigilant around keeping your child/ren home if they are unwell. Along with COVID, we still have many illnesses that can be easily spread through the school. If your child has tested negative to COVID and is still unwell, they shouldn’t be at school until they are better. After an expected bumpy start to the term, we are starting to see a reduction in the number of positive COVID cases in the school.

QLD Health COVID 19 Vaccination Clinic
QLD Health will be running a community vaccination clinic at the school on 26th & 27th February. Community members are welcome to pop down and receive a vaccination or booster. Yungaburra Pharmacy will be running their follow up children’s vaccination clinic on Friday 11 th March from 3:30pm onwards at the school Library.

School Upgrades
There will be a lot happening in our school this semester! We have the following projects that will be occurring over the next six months:
  • Drainage works around our junior playground and hall this will prevent playground sand erosion and pooling of water behind the hall in the wet season
  • Amenities upgrade of our junior toilets
  • F Block external upgrade, including a covered in landing and new access on the G block side. The block will be connected to the existing covered in walkways
  • G & E block classrooms will be repainted internally and G block will also receive new carpet.

Where possible we will try to minimise disruptions to classes and learning.

School Improvement Agenda
Our focus this year continues to be Positive Education with a focus on:
  • Student Learning and Wellbeing
  • Staff Learning and Wellbeing
  • Community Engagement
In 2022 we are including Pedagogical Practices as a focus area. We will be working with the regional curriculum team to build our capability to ensure that we are catering for and meeting the needs of all our learners in the classroom, particularly our high achieving students.

School Review
Yungaburra State School is scheduled for our 4 yearly full school review early next term (26th to the 29th April). We will have a review team come and visit us at the school and speak to staff, students, parents and community. From this, we will be provided with some recommendations that will form a part of our next 4 year strategic plan for Yungaburra. I have attached a fact sheet for your information and you will receive an invitation to participate closer to the time.

Kind Regards,
Jo McDougall
Principal
